ZENZ is a certified green hairdressing chain with its own line of beauty products based on natural and organic ingredients, created with care for both your health and the planet.
Founded in 1999 by Anne-Sophie Skjødt Villumsen, with a vision to create a healthier and more sustainable beauty industry, where both salon treatments and products are accessible to everyone – including those with allergies.

History of ZENZ
The Hairdresser Who Changed the Beauty Industry
As a young hairdresser, Anne-Sophie developed an allergy to the chemicals in conventional hair products that she used on a daily basis during her practice as a hairdresser. At the time, the selection of professional products free from harsh chemicals was very limited.
After 10 years of struggling with allergies, she opened the first ZENZ Organic Hairdressing salon in 1999. This marked the beginning of ZENZ, where the goal of creating a healthier and more sustainable hairdressing industry has been the focus since day one.

Jørgen Becomes Part of ZENZ
After several years of successful operation, Anne-Sophie realized in 2007 that ZENZ needed new energy to continue growing. In her search, she met Jørgen, who became both her business and life partner.
Their shared vision of a healthier and more sustainable beauty industry set a new direction for ZENZ, and in 2008, they became partners.

The Launch of ZENZ’s First Beauty Products
ZENZ launched it's first products in 2010. The line was certified with both the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and AllergyCertified, offering professional hairdressing products free from harmful chemicals. The range quickly expanded to include hair care, styling, henna hair color, and sun protection.
In 2015, Anne-Sophie was recognized as Hairdresser of the Year at the Danish Beauty Award.

ZENZ Version 2.0
In 2017, Jørgen decided to fully commit to ZENZ, and together with Anne-Sophie, they set ambitious goals to create ZENZ Version 2.0. This included a relaunch of the company and products, aimed at supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2021, Anne-Sophie and Jørgen were awarded the Honorary Award as Passionate of the Year at the Danish Beauty Award for their groundbreaking work in the beauty industry.
Today, ZENZ is a global company, present in more than 20 countries with both its own and franchise salons, as well as a product line that is available worldwide.

1999: Åbningen af den første ZENZ-salon
2005: Anne-Sophie er med til at stifte saloncertificeringen Grøn Salon. ZENZ vinder af Københavns Kommunes Miljøpris
2006: Anne-Sophie er med til at åbne Videncenter for Frisører og Kosmetikere
2008: Anne-Sophie og Jørgen begynder at udvikle på deres vision for ZENZ. De fastlægger ZENZ' egne 8 mål for en mere bæredygtig udvikling
2010: Lancering af ZENZ Organic Products
2015: Anne-Sophie kåres til Årets Frisør ved Danish Beauty Award
2017: FN's Verdendmål bliver rammerne for ZENZ' strategi
2021: Åbning af ZENZ Organic Academy. Lancering af ZENZ Version 2.0 Anne-Sophie og Jørgen kåres til Årets IIdsjæl ved Danish Beauty Award
2024: ZEMZ fejrer 25 års jubilæm
